Intensive 1
The first intensive of the CYS 200hr Yoga Teacher Training covers fundamental aspects of asana (posture practice), biomechanics, yoga philosophy, as well as yoga teaching principles.
Asana
Each morning, a Lead Trainer teaches asana (yoga posture practice). The practice is meticulously designed to highlight the lesson of the day, which is further unfolded in the afternoon. Our trainers adapt the morning asana to make it accessible to all the bodies in the room, so nobody is ever left out.
The focus of Intensive 1 is learning how to activate body and align the joints. These actions are to be maintained throughout practice, to different degrees depending on how the body is positioned. Stability and ease emerge naturally as a result of these activations, so they are invaluable whether you find yourself on the mat or not.
Practice Teaching
Practice teaching begins right away and we provide a lot of support to make this experience 100% stress-free. The practice teaching exercises are fun and engaging. You will learn about different types of teaching language and become proficient in using them.
We will also cover how to design sequences that increase in complexity gradually and elegantly.
Philosophy
Philosophy lectures are a time to get acquainted with Indian history and thought, which does not require that you change any of your existing beliefs. In intensive 1 we focus on one of the most important Indian perspectives, called Samkhya. Samkhya gives us insight into how the ancient people understood the world around them and the role of “mind”.
