IAYT Reaccreditation Timeline
August 4, 2022
The IAYT was messaged asking when we can get started with the re-accreditation. Marilyn, Administrative Support, Accreditation Department, responded that they "will be reaching out shortly with a new Dropbox with the Re-accreditation documents in the upcoming weeks."
During this time, the reaccreditation process was closed to schools due to revamping their standards and process.
Sep 22, 2022
CYS attended the mandatory Reaccreditation Workshop. We learned that all documents must be submitted 3 months before our accreditation expiration (Jan 15, 2023 expiration means a deadline of Oct 15, 2023 with less than one month to prepare). IAYT advised setting aside between 3-6 months to prepare all documentation. IAYT mentioned an extension for January schools, as long as we show making an effort/progress.
Sep 23, 2022
Marilyn was emailed about access to the Dropbox folder, as we still haven't received it. Marilyn emailed all attendees saying to email Accreditation@iayt.org about an extension and that she would send the DropBox folder soon. We emailed Accreditation@iayt.org. asking for an extension and received no reply.
Sep 24, 2022
Marilyn shared the Dropbox folder.
Nov 17, 2022
Received email from Shanchoy letting us know she will be our accreditation specialist and moved our application deadline to Dec 15, 2022 (one month away). Shanchoy emailed again to say "I have received your reaccreditation application and am working on your Initial Document Review to determine whether your application is complete and ready for full review." (which I clarified was incorrect). Shanchoy also sent an updated Program Overview Form (different from the version in dropbox).
Jan 4, 2022
Shanchoy emailed to let us know that our documents are overdue; we clarified that all the documents were included in the dropbox folder, per the instructions we received.
Jan 19, 2023
Shanchoy sent initial comments and questions and gave us a deadline of Feb 19 to respond. Among the comments, she requested a daily schedule document (which was not outlined in any of the prior materials).
Jan 26, 2023
CYS attended another Mandatory Reaccreditation Meeting that simply restated the same information from September (not good use of time).
Feb 15, 2023
We replied to Shanchoy's comments and questions. Shanchoy acknowledged and let us know she will prepare the first Request for Information Document by May 15.
April 22, 2023
Marilyn informs us that we need to complete the online application and pay the first half of the accreditation fee. The fee does not show up in our IAYT Account/Billing, it's completely outside and separate from the school's account.
May 8, 2023
Shanchoy prepared an RFI (Request for Information) due by June 22.
May 30, 2023
Shanchoy informs us that our response is due by July 7, not June 22.
June 21, 2023
The RFI answers were submitted to Shanchoy. Some highlights from the RFI:
1) IAYT wants us to request a copy of the applicants' 200hr YTT, even though that is not a requirement anywhere in their documentation.
2) The "wrong" hours from the Program Overview reflected version 1 of the document, instead of the most current version 3.
3) I could not identify the hour discrepancy from the Competency Chart that Shanchoy pointed out.
4) The Daily Schedule was updated with the mentorship hours, even though that's not part of the "daily schedule" -- this clarification from the IAYT implies that they don't understand how the program is structured.
5) We had to clarify that Holly Krepps is not a program graduate, but a co-founder and she is qualified to teach in the program!
July 17, 2023
Shanchoy emailed to ask about the status of the RFI. When we replied that it was sent to her 6/21, she said that she's been having issues with her inbox and asked that we resend the documents (which we did right away).
August 3, 2023
Shanchoy asked for some further clarifications by email. In our response, we said that our Practicum hours were not included in the total Synchronous hours, because of a misunderstanding on my part... (How did we make it up to this point in the application without IAYT catching this?)
August 14, 2023
Shanchoy asked that we update and resubmit all the documents affected by the calculation of Practicum and Synchronous hours (see correspondence from August 3). She also said that since the hours already meet the IAYT hour requirements, she will initiate the next phase of the application process.
We submitted five updated documents with the new calculation on August 25.
Sep 29, 2023
Shanchoy emailed another RFI from the Program Review Team.
On Oct 5, we realized that our access to the DropBox folder had been removed. Shanchoy was emailed about it, as we were concerned our documents had been deleted or lost. She said that the dropbox folder is closed after the Initial Document Review, but she will grant me access again. Marilyn granted us access 2 days later.
Highlights from the latest RFI:
1) They think that the muscular system is not addressed
2) We need to show how "PT practices" of soft tissue mobilization and cold stretching are in scope -- even though these are techniques that have already been approved in the last accreditation.
3) They are pointing out discrepancies in the program hours in the competency chart (it appears that IAYT is using version 1 of the competency chart, not the latest, which is version 3) and the website. We have no idea where on the website they are looking, and we included a current screenshot of the website showing correct hours.
